- newnurb 1.0. Your parts now live inside the app, and every part keeps its history: each version, every build, and the conversation that made it. The app and your AI can no longer overwrite each other's changes.
- newYour projects come with you. The first time 1.0 opens, it brings over the projects you had in 0.x, with their parts, notes and measurements. A folder that can't come across is named on screen, and Import folder brings it over by hand.
- newThe project panel. A set of parts that must agree, like bins and the rail they hang on, shows its shared numbers as sliders and its measurements as fields, and lists which parts use each one.
- newWhen sibling parts repeat the same construction, your AI notices and offers to share it across the set, so one change updates them all.
- newSettings > Connect. One command to copy for Claude Code, Codex or Cursor in your own terminal, which then works on the same parts the app shows.
- newRename a part from its library card or the workspace header, and switch between a project's parts from one menu in the header.
- improvedDownload remembers your file type. One click saves it to Downloads and shows it in Finder. Export as folder writes out the whole project.
- improvedThe library shows one clear view of each part, builds imported parts in the background so their pictures fill in, and lets you choose how it sorts.
- improvedThe stage says so while a change rebuilds, and the chat keeps your AI's steps in order and in plain words.
- improvedThe app's Codex chat can now run GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6.1 Terra.
- improvedChatting with Claude now uses your own Claude Code, so install it once (the app shows how) and sign in. Conversations from 0.x stay behind, and each part starts a fresh chat.
- fixedOn some Intel Macs the chat set itself up again on every launch and never finished. It starts normally now.
- fixedOn a Mac with Grok installed and Cursor not, the app showed a Cursor chat that started Grok. It only shows Cursor when Cursor is installed.
- newYour printer, remembered. Pick a printer once and every project on this computer uses its bed. The plate is labelled with the machine, and your AI knows the size before it designs. A new project with no printer shows the picker right on the plate.
- newCreality K2 Plus. It is in the printer list, so print time and downloads use its real build volume and settings.
- improvedThe app's Codex chat can now run GPT-6-Astra.
- fixedA part that crashed the CAD engine used to take the viewer down with it and crash again on every restart. It now shows as that part's error, with a hint about what to change, while the rest of the project keeps building.
- fixedThe 3MF download failed on some parts with an invalid parameter error. Those parts download now.
- newFable 5.1. The app's chat can now run Claude's newest model. Picking Fable used to fail with a version error, and the model list showed it twice.
- newGeometry unchanged. When your AI edits a part and the rebuilt shape is identical, the viewer says so instead of looking like it stopped updating. A cut that misses the part entirely is the usual cause.
- improvedYour AI now checks that a cut actually removed material, because a subtraction that misses the part builds fine and changes nothing.
- fixedIf the engine behind a project dies, the app restarts it on its own instead of needing a relaunch.
- newTwo more Bambu printers. The P2S and the X2D are in the printer list, so print time and downloads use their real build volume and settings.
- improvedThe printer question lets you back out. Press Escape or click the part to close the list and return to the print time button without choosing a machine.
- improvedSigning in to your AI moved out of the sidebar and into Settings, and choosing which AI to talk to now happens in the chat header. The first one you pick becomes your default, and signing in partway through a conversation keeps the conversation instead of asking you to send your message again.
- improvedThe part list stays at one row per part. A part with saved variants shows how many it has, and clicking the part unfolds them.
- improvedGrok chats now show the model and effort pickers the other agents have, so you can choose which Grok answers and how hard it thinks.
- fixedProjects created in the app came with instructions written for the command line, which could send your AI off editing files outside your project. New projects no longer carry them.
- newPaste an image into chat. A screenshot, or a photo copied from another app, now attaches to your message the same way a dropped file does. Show your AI the thing you are trying to fit instead of describing it.
- improvedYou can write your next message while your AI is still working. It sends once the current work stops, and nothing you typed gets thrown away if you have to sign in again partway through.
- fixedThe app looked frozen the first time you opened it, while the modeling engine warmed up in the background. The opening screen now counts the seconds and tells you a first start can take a few minutes on a busy machine, and the app waits instead of giving up on an engine that is nearly ready.
- fixedWhen setup fails the first time you open the app, the screen now names the piece that failed and shows what it said, instead of one generic message for every failure. Setup also waits longer for a newly installed tool to start, which was one cause of those failures.
- newReport a broken setup. A report this button sits next to try again on that screen. It opens a bug report already filled in with the error and your Mac's details, so you do not have to describe what went wrong.
- fixedSaving a variant from the sliders failed on variants your AI had set up, so your numbers never got written back. It saves them now.
- newPrint settings come with the file. The 3MF you download now opens in Bambu Studio or Orca already set up for that part: gyroid infill, three walls, no supports, and a brim only when the part is tall enough or warp-prone enough to earn one. The print time and filament estimate describes the same file you got. This needs a slicer installed and a printer picked, and the download tells you when either one is missing.
- newSave a variant from the sliders. Move a slider while a variant is selected and the app now offers to write those numbers back into that variant. Until you do, the variant stays marked so you can see your values have drifted from the saved ones.
- newGemini. Gemini joins the AIs you can work with in the app. Sign in with a Google AI Studio key from inside the app, and it is kept in your Mac's keychain.
- newThe Anycubic Kobra 2 is now one of the printers you can choose, with its bed size and its own slicer settings.
- newA first run that starts you off. Opening the app with no projects yet now shows what a project is and a form to make one, instead of an empty window with nothing to click. There is a link to add a folder you already have.
- improvedParts are easier to read. Edges are drawn on the shape now, so faces stop blending into one grey blob and you can see where a chamfer or a step actually is.
- fixedInstalling nurb added nurb's own internal commands to your AI along with the real skill. The installer now takes only the nurb skill.
- newIntel Macs. The Mac app now comes in two downloads, one for Apple silicon and one for Intel. The download page names which is which, so an older Mac gets a build that runs.
- fixedA part with variants shows every one of them in the Mac app's part list, each with its own row under the part. The active one is marked, and the mark follows a slider drag or an edit by your AI, not just the last row you clicked.
- fixedSetting up an AI in the app no longer half installs. A missing piece used to look like a sign-in problem; now it fails clearly and installs again.
- newCompletion chime. A short chime plays when your AI finishes a task that took a while, so you can look away and still hear the part is ready. Quick back and forth stays quiet. Settings has a Sound switch that turns it off, and plays it once when you turn it back on.
- fixedTyping a new project or part name no longer capitalizes the first letter for you.
- improvedFaster motion checks. A part that swings all the way round took about fourteen seconds to check, and nothing else in the project would rebuild while it ran. The check now skips the parts that are nowhere near the one that moves, and a save or a slider drag interrupts it instead of queueing behind it.
- fixedSaving several parts at once left all but the last one without check results.
- improvedYour AI understands tapered shapes better. A shape that steps through three or more outlines used to bow inward between them, so a wall you asked to be 15mm across came out 12.5mm. Your AI now keeps those walls straight, and knows which tapered rims will refuse a rounded edge.
- new3MF downloads. Download now gives you a 3mf file. It states its own units, so Bambu Studio and Orca open it at the right size instead of guessing. Stl and step are still one click away, behind the arrow beside the button.
- fixedDownloading a part that took more than ten seconds to build never finished, and the button sat there waiting.
- fixedWhen a download failed, the file from last time stayed on disk and looked like the new one.
- newChats keep going. Your AI now keeps working when you switch to another project, so a long run no longer stops the moment you look somewhere else. The project list shows an amber dot while an agent is busy there, and a green dot when a reply is waiting for you.
- fixedPicking Grok in the Mac app failed straight away with a permission error, and Cursor would have hit the same wall. Both can save their own sign-in now, so they start like the rest.
- newOne-paste bug reports. The About window has a copy debug info button that puts the app and system versions on your clipboard together, and the report links now open a form that asks for what someone needs to see the problem you saw.
- fixedA sign-in that expired on the server left the Mac app on an error note with nothing to click. It shows the sign-in button now, so you can sign back in and keep working.
- newTalk about the whole project. The Mac app puts a project row above your parts, and it opens a conversation about everything you are making instead of one part. Ask there for a new part and it makes one, and it can move the shapes your parts have in common into one place they all share.
- newShared with siblings. When three or more of your parts build the same thing the same way, the viewer says so under the parameters and shows you what repeats. In the Mac app, unify hands it to the project chat with the request already written, ready for you to send or change.
- newCorners lift. A wide flat part pulls its corners off the bed as it cools, and nurb catches it before you print. It measures how sharp the corners are looking down at the part, names the worst one, and says what to do: round the corners, rib the floor instead of leaving it solid, print with a brim. Tell nurb you print in ABS and it expects the lift on smaller parts, because that plastic pulls harder.
- newThin posts. A skinny post standing straight up off the bed breaks along the layers. Under 3mm across it fails, under 5mm it warns, and a post lying down or merged into a wall is left alone.
- newYour projects folder. The Mac app keeps projects in Documents/nurb, and Settings now lets you keep them anywhere. Point it at a folder that already holds nurb projects and it offers to load them where they are, without moving anything.
- improvedYour AI knows more about what survives a print. New rules cover parts meant to flex, how much room two printed parts need to fit together, hole sizes and the vertical bores that come out undersized, and what it takes to put a screw into plastic. There is an aesthetics section too, so the dimensions that nothing else decides get chosen on purpose rather than left to chance.
- fixedOne viewer tab per project. An AI that lost track of the viewer it already started used to open another tab every time it looked. A second start on a project that is already open now hands back the window that is running.
- newWill it hold? Press stress in the viewer, say how many kilos press on it and what plastic it prints in, then click where the weight lands and where the part is held. The part colors in where the stress gathers, and you get the peak stress, how far it sags, and how much is left before it breaks. Printed parts are weaker across the layers, and that is counted. Your AI can run the same check while it models, and a part can record the load it is meant to carry so the answer comes back the same every time.
- improvedThe columns in the Mac app resize. Drag the seam beside the parts list or the chat to give the part more room, and double-click a seam to put it back. The widths are remembered.
- fixedThe list of problems folds away now. In a narrow window it used to cover the buttons above it with no way past. Fold it and you keep the count and the pins on the part, and it stays folded through a save and a reload.
- newMatch the original. Point a part at the phone scan or downloaded model it is meant to replace, and nurb tells you how close you are. The original sits over your part as an amber ghost you can switch on and off, and two numbers refresh on every save: how far your part strays outside the original, and how much of the original it does not cover yet. They stay separate on purpose, because extra material and missing detail are different problems, and a single average would hide both.
- improvedPrint time is a button in the viewer now, instead of something you had to know to ask for. Press it and the estimate takes its place, with the filament weight in grams. Move a slider and the number clears, so you never read an estimate for a part you no longer have.
- improvedIf nurb does not know your printer yet, it asks you to pick one right there and remembers the answer, rather than telling you to go and set it up first. The Bambu H2 machines are in the list now.
- improvedAn assembly is priced as the sum of the parts it places, repeats and all.
- fixedA long list of parts in the sidebar scrolls on its own instead of painting over what sits below it.
- newPrint time and filament. Find out what a part costs before you print it. nurb hands it to the OrcaSlicer or Bambu Studio you already have, on the printer you already told it about, and reads back how long the print takes and how much filament it uses. It all happens on your machine, with no account to make.
- newParts in pieces. A part that came out as two pieces touching looks like one part from every angle, and used to pass every check. Now it is caught and said first, ahead of the checks that would only have described one of the pieces.
- newWhat changed. Your AI can compare a part against the numbers nurb last recorded for it, so an edit that quietly dropped a chamfer or grew the part shows up as a difference instead of going unnoticed.
- improvedProblems are named in plain words now. The viewer says "starts on air" or "inside corner" and follows it with a sentence you can act on, rather than the name the rule goes by inside nurb.
- improvedStandard screw, nut and clearance hole sizes ship with nurb, so your AI sizes an M3 head pocket or an M4 nut socket from the table instead of asking you to measure hardware that has been standard for decades.
- improvedAn inspection report pictures the back and underside of the part as well as the front, so nothing hides on the far side.
- fixedSigning in to Codex in the Mac app failed for everyone with "The sign-in did not finish". The button now reaches the real login page.
- fixedA part that builds to nothing says so instead of failing with an internal error, and the viewer no longer leaves the previous part on screen under the new part's name.
- newPhone scans. Scan an object with your phone, hand nurb the file, and it reads the shape in millimeters. Your AI can slice a cross-section to trace the profile you need to fit, and it tells you when to print a small test piece to prove the fit before you commit to the whole part.
- newDownloaded models. A model you downloaded now comes in as a real solid, so you can cut holes in it, chamfer its edges, and build around it. Files that can't be one, like a scan or a hollow surface, are turned away with the reason instead of taking the preview down.
- improvedYour AI offers a scan when it needs the shape of something and a number won't do, and walks you through the capture the first time.
- improvedThe Mac app stops asking permission for each command. Your AI now runs inside a sandbox that can read anything but only write inside your project.
- newDesign limits. A part can now refuse a configuration it knows can't work, like a hole narrower than the tool it holds. Instead of an error, the viewer shows a plain message, marks the slider that went too far, and keeps the last good shape on screen.
- improvedThe Mac app checks for updates every six hours and downloads them in the background, so updating is one click when the prompt appears. A Check for Updates item in the app menu answers on demand either way.
- fixedClicking a part in the Mac app's sidebar now switches the preview. It used to keep showing the previous part.
- newThe desktop app. A Mac app that puts your projects, your AI, and the live viewer in one window. Chat with Claude, Codex, Cursor, or Grok on the left and watch the part change on the right. It sets everything up on first launch and updates itself with one click.
- newInspection reports. Your AI can now show you exactly where a problem lives: each finding is drawn on the face it belongs to, parts can be cut open to see inside, and a verify run bundles the full checklist with rendered stills.
- newThe model leaderboard. A public benchmark scores AI models on designing real printable parts, so you can see how the model you talk to stacks up.
- improvedThe viewer draws your printer's actual bed and centers the part on it, so what you see is what will sit on the plate.
- improvedYour AI looks up published dimensions itself, like a battery size or a rail spacing, and only asks you to measure what can't be found.
- improvedTell nurb about your printer once and every project on your machine knows it. Your AI records it for you and checks there before asking again.
- improvedExports write just the STL you print from by default. Other formats are one ask away, and a stale file sitting next to a fresh export gets flagged instead of looking current.
- newRounded rims. The top of a wall that rises and falls can now be rounded over in one step. Ask for it by name when you want the softer edge; everything else still gets a chamfer by default.
- newScrew pockets. A recessed pocket for a screw head can print facing the bed. The hole above it used to begin on thin air, and now two thin throwaway layers carry it, which the screw pushes straight through.
- newA new check warns when a part has a hole rim floating over an open pocket, the failure the overhang rule stays quiet about.
- improvedExported STLs are meshed at printing scale, so a large tray is a fraction of the file it used to be, and every export reports its size and triangle count.
- improvedA part too long for your bed now passes if it fits across the diagonal, which is how you would print it anyway.
- improvedThe viewer says when a part is rebuilding and counts the seconds, and sliders no longer snap back to old values or rebuild on every notch of a drag.
- improvedA corner axis marker keeps orientation readable while you orbit, and finding pins can be hidden to see the geometry underneath them.
- fixedThe viewer connects when nurb is served over HTTPS behind a proxy, instead of hanging at connecting.
- fixedStarting the viewer falls back to another port instead of refusing to open when one is already running.
- newDiagonal printing. A part that prints better tilted can now be stood on its corner, with a small flat facet cut where it meets the bed. It's offered as a variant with a plain note about the trade-off, never forced, since only you know whether that corner shows.
- newTall diagonal stances grow break-away fins: thin blades that steady the lean during the print and snap off after.
- newA new floating check fails any region whose first layer would print on thin air, something the overhang check can't see.
- improvedHold the pointer over a slider's name to see what that parameter does.
- improvedSliders are named in your words. Call it a lip when you describe the part and the slider says lip, not something technical.
- improvedYour AI asks for the permissions it needs once, up front, instead of stopping to ask in the middle of the first build.
- fixedThree viewer fixes: the section cut spans the whole part, a stale camera bug is gone, and the checks panel no longer blinks between rebuilds.
- fixedWhen your browser can't do 3D, the viewer says so and explains what to try, instead of showing a blank page.
- improvednurb notices when your installed skill is older than the tool and says how to bring it current.
- newExporting an assembly downloads one zip containing each of its parts.
- newAssemblies. Put parts together and check the motion between them, so a lid that would collide with its hinge gets caught before you print it.
- newnurb.dev, with a live demo you can drag, a one-line installer, and nurb update to upgrade everything in one go.
- fixedA typed slider value now arrives exactly as typed, Chrome no longer hangs while connecting to the viewer, and the viewer never restores an old camera onto an empty scene.
- newVariants. Named configurations of a part you can flip between in the viewer, each with a link that opens exactly that configuration.
- improvedYour AI starts the viewer at the beginning of every session and keeps its link in every reply.
- improvedA viewer design pass: a cleaner toolbar and clearer icons on the printability checks.
- newThe viewer's update badge upgrades nurb when you click it.
- newA double-clickable launcher that opens the viewer without touching a terminal.
- newPrinter profiles can choose which file formats an export produces.
- newYour AI can now inspect a part the way the print checks see it, with every finding tied to the exact face it's about.
- improvedWhen a chamfer won't fit, the error names the real cause and the edges involved, not a cryptic kernel code.
- improvedThe viewer shows the finished part, chamfers and all, by default, with a toggle for the raw draft.
- newAn installable skill that teaches any AI assistant to design printable parts with nurb.
- improvedYour AI asks for real measurements before it models a fit, instead of guessing.
- newThe viewer shows its version and quietly mentions when a newer one exists.
- newThe first release. Describe a part in plain words, watch your AI model it live in the browser, drag sliders, get checks against real print physics, and download a file your printer understands.
